Youth
Entrepreneurship
The program involves a full range of teaching strategies: hands-on
applications, case studies, field trips, lectures, and group discussions,
with a strong emphasis on participant interaction.
The YEP program curriculum is based on the National Foundation
for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) model. YEP conducts two 6-8
week sessions each year. Classes will be held Monday through Friday.
Class enrollment will consist of 12-15 students each session.
Participants ages are 14-18.
YEP is designed to provide opportunities and inspiration for youth
to make healthy changes in their lives through the development
of personal and business skills. Enhancement of math, critical
thinking, reading and writing skills is a core objective. The
classes are structured to be informative and entertaining for
the youth. Students will receive a certificate upon successful
completion of each session.
Practical hands-on experience is provided in a small business
environment using the Laundromat/Bundle Service "So Fresh & So
Clean" owned by ICDC as a teaching tool. Each student assumes
a different role in running the business including marketing,
finance, management, making sure supplies are fully stocked, assisting
clients with bundle service, solving customer service issues and
trouble shooting equipment.
